PROSES PEMBELAJARAN DAN PENDIDIKAN DEMOKRATIS DALAM PERSPEKTIF ISLAM
Education is implemented into two categories; democratic education and authoritarian education. In fact, the democratic education is more developed in the Eastern world and authoritarian in the western. In this case it is no wonder, if later progressissm, as the flow of educational philosophy that emphasizes the importance of democratic education with the character of the famous John Dewey, grow and expand in Western society. With regard to democratization, in the process of learning /education, the Islamic perspective, in principle, stressed the importance of individual autonomy in the education process. Islam does not recognize the practice of educational discrimination of any kind, including hegemony and to specific human groups. In the process of education should not be the name of the truth, for example a teacher superiority / inferiority of faculty and student / student. Instead of learning and education have fostered the creation of the democratization of education (academic freedom) that are tailored to professional qualifications in each of the existing academic civitas. However, Islam also emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, especially the attitude that must be presented by students against teachers. However, teachers in Islamic perspective serves not only teachers who transfer knowledge to students, but more importantly, teachers must be a role model for students and the community.
